Resource Details

The Queen’s Innovation Centre Summer Initiative (QICSI) is a startup incubation program where founders receive no-cost training, mentorship, and office space from May to August to launch their own venture. QICSI is for those who want to explore entrepreneurship or social innovation as a career path. Every year, we select around 50 ambitious candidates to be a part of the program. The program includes a 2 week bootcamp, weekly workshops, mentorship and networking opportunities, $4000 seed funding for each venture, a $7000 personal stipend for each participant, and the opportunity to pitch for more substantial financial support. There are two streams to apply; one for teams who are already workign on an idea, and one for individuals without an idea who would like to form a founder team and start a venture from scratch. All Kingston residents are welcome to apply. Post-secondary students from any discipline or level of study are eligible. QICSI is industry agnostic and supports ventures across the full spectrum of not-for-profit to for-profit, and social to traditional enterprise. Applications are open in October for the following summer.
